Arrow Season 7: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Inheritance'
3. The Focus On Laurel
One character who got some much-needed spotlight in this week's episode was Earth-2's Laurel Lance. The Star City District Attorney voiced her concerns about Emiko's dual identity to Oliver before taking part in her very own storyline in which she attempted to offer a plea deal to a known-criminal.
There were a lot of issues with the way that it was handled (more on that later), but it all led to the character's loyalty to the city being called into question by Oliver, Dinah and, eventually, the city itself. Emiko's deliverance of incriminating photos (from during her time as Diaz's right-hand) to the press has certainly changed things up in an interesting way and it's going to be intriguing to see how the once hot-headed Laurel processes the sudden backlash that she faces.
Following the death of Quentin in the Season 6 finale, the former Black Siren had turned over a new leaf and decided to channel her grief into being the person her father's doppelganger wanted her to be. However, the writers have failed to provide us with a real chance to see that progression because Laurel has consistently been absent from episodes or thrown into someone else's storyline in a supporting role.
Whatever her current predicament, it's nice to finally see Katie Cassidy shining on-screen as the troubled character once again.
