Arrow Season 7 Finale: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From 'You Have Saved This City'
2. A Fitting Farewell To Oliver And Felicity
Though the finale failed to provide the necessary closure to many of this season's important storylines, it sure made up for it when it came to closing out some of the show's bigger overarching stories.
Emily Bett Rickards' departure from the show played in the episode's final act as the writers came up with a near 15-minute long farewell for both Felicity and Oliver, as the pair decided to leave Star City for good in order to raise their daughter away from the vigilante life.
Having watched these two endure some of the most horrendous acts of torture and violence over the course of the show's seven-season run, it was admittedly nice to see them finally get some time to do nothing other than enjoy the country air together, watch the sunset and, most importantly, be good parents. Although their happiness was short-lived, the brief perfection was a fitting ending for the Olicity that we knew in the present-day and, knowing that twenty years down the line, they were destined to be reunited made it all the more fulfilling.
Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards delivered some of their finest work here, turning in incredibly moving performances as the pair tearfully bid each other farewell - a scene that undoubtedly had viewers bawling their eyes out.
While we don't quite know what will happen to Oliver as far as next season is concerned, we do know that this episode marked the ending of Felicity's arc and, when all was said and done, it was a conclusion that she deserved.
Goodbye Emily Bett, we'll miss you.
