Arrow Season 8 Review: 11 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Green Arrow And The Canaries'

1. It Would Make A Great Series

Green Arrow and The Canaries
The CW

Regardless of your opinions, thoughts or feelings on the idea of Green Arrow and The Canaries, there was one thing we all were going into that backdoor pilot wondering: Could it - or perhaps more importantly: Should it - be the next Arrowverse series? Well, after watching the pilot, this writer can thoroughly answer that: Yes, it should be.

There's a lot about the backdoor pilot that absolutely screams (pun intended) series potential. Whether it be the futuristic setting, the intrigue surrounding the villain or the unique dynamic between the protagonists, there's a well of untapped potential in Green Arrow and The Canaries just waiting to be explored. It has a vibe - a sheen, if you will - that sets it apart from its predecessors. It's more tied to Arrow than any of the other spin-offs and yet it's a whole lot fresher and innovative.

Furthermore, it gives starring roles to three of the Arrowverse's most underappreciated characters, highlighting the potential in each of them while showcasing performers that have deserved the spotlight for a long time.

If picked up, Green Arrow and The Canaries has the potential to be the best superhero show on TV - and that reason alone is exactly why it should be.

Go on CW, bring the Arrowverse into the future.
