Arrow Season 8 Review: 11 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Green Arrow And The Canaries'
Downs...
2. Not Enough William
While it was great to see familiar faces like Zoe Ramirez, Connor Hawke, and John Diggle Jr. join newcomer Bianca Bertinelli as next generation characters, the one that this writer enjoyed seeing the most was William Clayton.
Portrayed by Ben Lewis, William instantly became one of the most enjoyable characters on not just the flash-forwards but all of Arrow's seventh and eighth seasons, so for that reason it would have been nice to see a little more of him in this backdoor pilot.
Now, don't get this writer wrong, this isn't a plea for a 'Future Team Arrow' show or anything of the like - we had that in Season 7 and, well, the results were mixed - but given how important the relationship between Mia and William is to both characters, it could have benefited both of their arcs if he appeared a little more often.
Again, this is only a minor issue because, based on his overall importance (and that shocking ending), it's highly likely that William will be a full-time part of Green Arrow and The Canaries if it gets picked up. And, given how great a performer Lewis is, that could mean great things for both him and the series.
