Arrow Season 8 Review: 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Leap Of Faith'
3. The Destruction Of Earth-2 Continues To Weigh On Everyone
When Earth-2 fell apart, it wouldn't have been unusual for Arrow to carry on with its 'business as usual' approach and attempt to move the story forward in the nine remaining episodes of the series. However, the writers pleasantly surprised us last week as they took some time away from the action to delve into Laurel's emotional reaction to the death of her earth - and it was this emotional journey that ended up providing 'Welcome To Hong Kong' with its standout moments.
Continuing that trend of pleasantly surprising us, this week's instalment saw the events of the premiere continue to weigh on Oliver and even Diggle - both of whom got emotional over the fact that they witnessed the disintegration of an entire universe and, by extension, the beginning of the Crisis.
It's moments like these that add real depth to the story, reminding us that these characters are supposed to be real people. And it's nice that, even eight years in, something so game-changing can still phase them. That keeps us invested in the story and, more importantly, invested in the characters.
