Arrow Series Finale Review: 12 Ups & 4 Downs From 'Fadeout'
2. The Final Scene Was A Little Predictable
Now before you get all angry, let this writer explain himself: The fact that Oliver Queen reunited with Felicity Smoak, happy and at peace with his mission being over, is something that felt true to Arrow - and it was indeed a truly beautiful moment. There isn't a problem with that - the problem lies in how that reunion went down.
Felicity's bargain with The Monitor in 2040 to be reunited with her man - which we saw play out in the Season 7 finale - was what ultimately brought her to him here... and it just felt, well, odd that we'd see it play out again. Not only does it undercut everything that happened between the Season 7 and Season 8 finales, it was an incredibly predictable end that, again, felt unusual.
Reunite Oliver and Felicity sure, but why do so in a way that was so easy to see coming?
