Supergirl's CW reinvention provided it with the opportunity to introduce Superman and it wasted little time doing so, bringing him in as early as the premiere. His arrival kicked things off on perhaps the highest note it had ever seen, but the show couldn't maintain that standard throughout the season.

Though the addition of Lena Luthor livened things up, that wasn't enough to make up for the absence of Cat Grant because the moment that Calista Flockhart departed, it struggled.

That said, the season was still solid. There were a number of issues but the introduction of Mon-El provided it with some great storylines - particularly for Kara, who found some overdue happiness with him. Furthermore, James Olsen came into his own as Guardian and Alex Danvers stole the show with her emotional journey towards self-acceptance.
