Arrowverse: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

13. Black Lightning Season 1

Black Lightning CW
CW

Black Lightning wasted little time making it clear to audiences that this wasn't a typical catch-the-bad-guy-on-a-weekly-basis kind of superhero series. It was a character-driven story that used the titular hero to address wider issues - and this realism proved to be its greatest strength.

Furthermore, the family dynamic was incredibly authentic, and the whole season was built on an outstanding performance from Cress Williams.

Black Lightning was created without the notion of a wider shared universe in mind, and it thrived because of it. Everything about it feels unique and even though it's part of the Arrowverse now, it will always have its own original identity because of this brilliant debut.
