Ash Vs. Evil Dead Trailer: 6 Things You Need To Know

3. There Are Lots Of Nods To The Films

Evil Dead has a cult following, and fans will have noted throughout the trailer that Raimi is happy to offer plenty of nods to their favourite moments and references from the original trilogy. Firstly, the boomstick is back - and so is the word "boomstick" itself! - with one memorable sequence showing Ash opening a hidden panel in the floor that contains S-Mart's top-of-the-line twelve-gauge double-barrelled Remington. The saw is back too, of course. Raimi's infamous and influential tracking shots, which are first-person perspectives of the evil spirits flying through the woods, are making a return. They're littered throughout the trailer. The trailer also includes a lot of footage from Evil Dead II in particular, leading to the question of whether these flashbacks will appear in the show itself. It's also certainly clear that the theatrical ending of Army Of Darkness, in which Ash returns to normality and his job at S-Mart, is now the canonical one in Raimi's eyes. Probably safe to assume that this show isn't set in a post-apocalyptic future at the world's end like in the deleted ending...
