Babylon 5: 5 Problems The New Movie Will Need to Overcome

4. How Do You Follow Iconic Performances?

While Babylon 5 was shot on a virtual shoestring, it still pulled in some incredible actors, who truly invested in Straczynzki's world, their dedication more than making up for some of the obvious gaps in budget. One of the most memorable performances came from the irreplaceable Andreas Katsulas, who sadly passed away in 2006. The initially hostole Ambassador G'Kar, became a deeply sensitive and philosophical presence on the show, while retaining his warrior's pride. The scripts hinted at his depth, but it was Katsulas' performance that truly revealed it. Richard Biggs, too, has now passed on, and it is tough to imagine another actor able to matching his troubled and sensitive portrayal of Doctor Richard Franklin. Even the supporting character of Zack Allen was so well established in fan€™s minds as the late Jeff Conaway, that the idea of Babylon 5 without these performances might be too much for some fans.. Muddying the waters further is Straczynski€™s apparent desire to bring back some of the original cast, including Mira Furlan and Bruce Boxleitner. Would these be in new roles? And would fans be able to accept them as such if they were to appear?
