Battlestar Galactica: Every Starbuck Episode Ranked Worst To Best

16. Scar

Battlestar Galatica Starbuck Scar
Universal

Scar is an odd episode for Starbuck in that it is focused more heavily on Starbuck's inner turmoil than the action around her. While this is not the first episode to do this, after Act of Contrition, it also speaks to the fact that, while highly interesting, some of these episodes are a little more challenging to sit through.

The thrust of the episode is that Kara feels, in her inability to return to Caprica to rescue Anders, she has very little to live for. Added to this, a Cylon Raider, dubbed Scar, has been cutting through the less experienced pilots in the fleet. She comes to blows with Kat, who feels she can do Starbuck's job better than she can.

Starbuck spirals, drinking heavily and make an ill-conceived pass at Lee, before she finally ends up in a game of chicken with Scar. In the last moment, she thinks back to her promise to Anders to return and swerves, allowing Kat to kill the Raider.

The episode closes with her conversation with Helo realising that, finally, with Anders she has something to live for.
