Batwoman Season 1: 8 Easter Eggs & References You Might Have Missed In 'Pilot'

4. This Bat's Got Wings

While we all know that neither Batman nor Batwoman can fly, the sight of them gliding across Gotham's skyline with their capes spread out certainly creates the illusion that they can. And that right there is an example of just how much a certain Batman influenced his female successor.

While Kate, like all variations of Batman, uses a grapple gun to make her way around the city, she also is able to use her cape for assistance. As we saw in the episode's final act, she jumped off the rooftop and her cape immediately extended in her hands - forming a wing-like shape that allowed her to glide across the sky.

This right here is undoubtedly a reference to The Dark Knight trilogy, as Christian Bale's Batman was able to do the exact same thing. In fact, the shot of Kate flying away from the building is practically identical to the shot from Batman Begins in which the Caped Crusader glides to safety after saving Gotham from Ra's Al Ghul and the microwave-emitting monorail.
