The one thing about Mike in Breaking Bad was that we never saw anything of him from before he worked with Fring. His past was slowly hinted at and told here and there, but Better Call Saul really unravelled the curtain of Mike Ehrmantraut and gave us exactly what Mike had been missing.

With Five-O, we now understand what actions took him to disregard the law and the police force entirely. As we see the story of just what happened to Mike's Son, Matt, and the revenge that Mike took on those responsible. It becomes clear that his grief is his fuel and has been since the first time we ever saw in in Breaking Bad.

He all but admits to Stacey that he killed the police officers that killed Matt and asks if she can live with the knowledge.

Mike is a good Grandfather and Father-in-law, he never allows anything to get in the way of that, and now we don't just know why - we see why.

This was Jonathan Banks' finest hour as Mike Ehrmantraut, and few could have bettered him in any TV show anywhere. He was robbed in his nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Emmys, though Peter Dinklage did point to Banks specifically during his speech.

Matt N hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
