Better Call Saul: 10 Easter Eggs From The Pilot You Have To See
6. The African Pancake Tortoise
One of the coolest parts about the first episode of Better Call Saul is it opened up in the present day: Saul Goodman post-Breaking Bad, having legged it from New Mexico and started a new life for himself far away from anything crystal-coloured, in a decidedly cooler location. Even far and way from Hesienberg, he can't quite escape the shadow of his most lucrative but dangerous client. Whilst his day job is kind of odd (more on that later), it's even more so when you consider the swanky digs Saul is holed up in. Well, relatively swanky, anyway. He still seems to be stuck on VHS tapes rather than DVD or Blu-Ray, and despite being hundreds of miles from Albuquerque, it's still following him. Before he settles into watching his own commercials, one of the TV shows he considers watching talks about the African Pancake Tortoise, famed for its flat shell and the one on the screen looks a lot like the one that carried Danny Trejo's severed, explosive head in Breaking Bad.
