Better Call Saul: 10 Scenes From Breaking Bad That Need Expanding
8. Ted's Promise
The last we saw of the human train wreck that is Ted Beneke he was almost ready to eat solid food and waking from a coma (Live Free or Die). Squandering the money Skyler gave him for his embezzlement problems, she has Saul send Huell and Kuby to his house to insure the situation is remedied. Ted makes a break for it, tripping on a rug and snapping his neck. He wakes from his coma in a hospital bed and halo with fear in his heart. I'll never tell, he promises Skyler as he begs for his life. Ted is not a character defined by resolve or ability to keep his word. Mixed with his enhanced sense of self-interest, Ted could have a part to play yet. We hate to do it but we have to wonder about Ted, simply because he is such a wildcard and it isn't hard to imagine a plausible scenario that would have Ted enter the picture with some deal from the DEA or the New Mexico police. Fingering Huell and Kuby would set wheels in motion to track down Saul as well as bury Skyler White by revealing the extent of her knowledge of Walt's business.
