Better Call Saul: 10 Things You Only Notice Rewatching Season 1

2. Mike Beats Up Trevor From GTA

Better Call Saul
AMC

The comedy drama criminal world of the GTA games feels like a piece of the criminal world of Vince Gilligan's Albuquerque, so it makes sense for Steven Ogg to appear in Better Call Saul.

For fans of both the video game and the TV series, a second watch can unlock the character behind the familiar voice. Ogg is the voice of fan-favourite character Trevor, an angry, violent wildcard of a man who's previously worked with another of the game's protagonists, Michael. A very different Michael faces down Mr. X (Ogg) towards the end of Season 1 of Better Call Saul.

Goaded for his lunch choice (a pimento cheese sandwich, another Breaking Bad callback to his stakeout lunch with Jesse), Mike proves to the macho Mr. X that he doesn't need guns to be deadly. Disarming the cocky criminal and embarrassing him in the car park, Mike wins the job, despite only being armed with his lunch. On a rewatch, it's also a fascinating moment for Mike that emphasizes the fact he hasn't yet killed anyone since taking revenge on his son's killers. In Breaking Bad he's shooting guys left, right, and centre. So, what changes?
