Better Call Saul: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best
8. Hector Salamanca
After Hector Salamanca became iconic for his wheelchair-bound turn on Breaking Bad, being able to see the character in his able-bodied villainy was a treat on Better Call Saul. Mark Margolis is an extremely talented actor, and giving him the chance to do more than ding a bell and tremble his lip was greatly appreciated.
Head of the Salamanca family and chief enforcer for Don Eladio's cartel, Hector was a primary antagonist in the second and third seasons of Better Call Saul. His expansive rivalry with Gus Fring is given a great deal of development, which extends far into Breaking Bad. Their interactions are some of the best scenes of the show as they are so weighted in history with everyone knowing the joint climax both characters are heading for.
Nacho sabotaging Hector's health medication leading to his stroke was a great use of a previously underutilised Nacho, and this managed to set him up for his more prominent role in the following seasons. Watching Hector in his prime provides brilliant context for the shell of a man who appears in Breaking Bad.
