Better Call Saul: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best
6. Lalo Salamanca
A late game addition to the show, Lalo made his debut towards the end of the fourth season, taking over the Salamanca operation in New Mexico. He managed to make a splash as he established himself as Better Call Saul's chief antagonist for the remainder of the show's run.
Lalo brings a great sense of urgent energy to the show, as he doesn't take himself too seriously and relishes the opportunity to be bad. Before Lalo turned up, it was hard to notice just how little everyone else smiles. Lalo has fun and isn't ashamed to show it.
He's a physically imposing character who, unlike other figures on the show, loves to get his hands dirty whenever possible. Watching Lalo crash through the ceiling when he couldn't get through a door was a particularly effective way to highlight how personally involved he likes to be in the action.
The most recent season ended with Lalo's narrow survival of Gus' hitmen as a cliff-hanger, as we're now sure to see him direct his onslaught towards Gus and Nacho. It's the most pressing issue going into the final season, which is made all the more compelling because of how great an antagonist Lalo is.
