Better Call Saul: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best

3. Kim Wexler

Lalo Salamanca Better Call Saul
AMC

Kim is by far the best female character Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould have created for this universe. After the sometimes less-than-desirable representations of women in Breaking Bad, Kim emerges as a character with agency, direction, and does not stand as an accessory to anyone else.

A lawyer at HHM and a close, sometimes romantic, friend of Jimmy's, Kim has her own drives and goals to succeed in her profession. On occasions when she is side-lined by her superiors, Kim will become furious with Jimmy if he tries to get her out of it, as she feels she needs to do it on her own. She's wholly independent of Jimmy, and even when they become involved and later married, Kim is never second in the relationship.

Heading into the final season, Kim has turned much darker by compromising her morals to join in Jimmy's way of side-stepping legal boundaries. She has even gone so far as to say that her and Jimmy should frame Howard for something terrible. Kim's descent into her new attitude is as well layered as Jimmy's, which makes it just as dynamic.

Where Kim ends up is likely to be a major beat of the final season, with her tense confrontation with Lalo being just the start. She is the core of the show in many ways, and will probably be the defining moment to push Jimmy into becoming Saul forever - whatever that moment will end up being.
