Better Call Saul: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best

2. Jimmy McGill

When Saul Goodman was one of the primary sources of levity in Breaking Bad, there was a degree of scepticism about whether the character could carry his own show. Luckily, the metamorphosis from aspiring attorney Jimmy McGill to crooked lawyer Saul Goodman has been just as compelling a transition as Walter White to Heisenberg.

Bob Odenkirk gives a career-best performance as this version of the beloved character, determined to do the right thing but willing to do questionable things to achieve that result. He manages to be as hilarious as we've come to expect from him, but he also lands some incredibly emotional beats with ease.

Jimmy is a fantastic protagonist who you can root for easily while also fearing what they're going to do next. The evolution of his character is well known, which is why seeing him at his best is sad, as we know what's to come.

Odenkirk's chemistry with Rhea Seehorn and Jonathan Banks is exceptional, and his work across the seasons should be commended. As Jimmy begins to leave his old persona behind forever in Season Six, we see the conclusion to one of the most well written and executed character arcs in television history.
