The metamorphosis and moral decline of Jimmy McGill, from budding young lawyer with a heart of gold and a few tricks up his sleeve into the ambulance chasing criminal lawyer we know and love, continues into its third year.

With the conclusion of the second season leaving Jimmy apparently caught dead to rights by his older brother Chuck, and Mike foiled in his attempted assassination of Hector Salamanca by a cryptic warning from a certain chicken-slinging kingpin, viewers are on tenterhooks in their anticipation of the deft twists, witty comic stylings, and poignant moments ahead in Season 3 of this meticulous character study.

Owing to the show's status as the prequel to Vince Gilligan's crime saga, the future that awaits Jimmy is largely known. What's less clear is just how he'll arrive there, and which further trials and tribulations will shape his destiny as Saul Goodman.

Season 3 looks to provide some answers on that front, as the world of the show is set to expand both in scope and in its connections to Breaking Bad. By promising to incorporate more and more vital pieces of its father show, Better Call Saul continues to bridge the gaps between the past, present, and future.

With the promise of even juicier stories and the long awaited introduction of an iconic character ahead, there are a lot of questions that the upcoming third season must answer. Here are eight such mysteries that fans need addressed.

8. What's Next For Jimmy And Chuck?

Season 2 ended with the promise of the final nail seemingly being driven into the tumultuous relationship between brothers Jimmy and Chuck, with the latter catching our hero admitting to doctoring Chuck’s Mesa Verde files on ill-gained tape. The full consequences of this bombshell are set to unfurl, and while the legal admissibility of Jimmy’s confession is questionable, Chuck’s upcoming reveal of his hand looks set to render the trust between the two beyond repair.

With Chuck notedly non-existent in Breaking Bad, a permanent estrangement between the McGill siblings is likely to be on the cards sooner rather than later as the prequel series gets ever closer to connecting with the adventures of Walter White and beyond. How will Chuck use his surreptitious recording of Jimmy claiming culpability in actions that hospitalised Chuck and jeopardised his reputation and relationship with HHM?

Until Slippin’ Jimmy can find a way to wiggle out of this one, Chuck looks primed to use Jimmy’s confession for leverage in getting what he wants: namely Jimmy’s immediate step down from his freshly christened law firm, and out of Chuck’s territory. We know, of course, that Saul Goodman is in Jimmy’s future. The only question is whether he’ll morph into that man of his own volition, or if he’ll be driven to it by the actions of his disapproving, jealous to the bone older brother.
