The Big Bang Theory: 12 Recurring Things That Need To Die

6. Mrs Walowitz

The Jewish kid who lives with his overweight mum. Oh, the hilarity. To be fair, there has been quite a bit of hilarity on that front, with Bernadette€™s slowly turning into her being one of the best. But the joke is getting a little stale. We could say wearing thin but since most of the jokes are based on her weight that would just be jumping on the band-wagon. Mrs Wolowitz even mentioned that she was once quite the looker, with men lining up to bring her candy. So instead of just making her an off-screen joke and the butt of various fat-gags, why not bring her in as a proper character? Having her mobile and available to drop in on the young couple at any stage could give some great opportunities for comedy. Either that or jettison her altogether, but the mother we never see has gotten tired and boring with Berni taking most of the jokes the writers used to give to her. With such a small pool of characters it€™s always helpful to have someone who can appear now and again to add some giggle. Sheldon€™s mum is always good for a laugh, as is Leonard€™s, why wouldn€™t Mrs Wolowitz be?
