The season three finale is a great example of how BoJack Horseman somehow managed to strike a balance between the incredibly dark tone of the titular character’s story and something completely off the wall and ridiculous, usually surrounding Todd or Mr. Peanutbutter.

In this case, while the season long joke of Mr. Peanutbutter’s spaghetti strainers pays off with he and the Cabracadabra drivers saving Pacific Ocean City from being crushed under the weight of a tonne of pasta, BoJack struggled in the wake of Sarah Lynn’s death.

After a heart to heart with Diane about how he positively affected the lives of millions of people through 'Horsin’ Around', BoJack decided to make Ethan Around. He seemed happy, but when his child co-star said she wanted to be like him, he suffered a horrible panic attack.

This was almost it for BoJack, as he sped along the highway with his eyes shut, hands off the wheel, and doing 90+ mph. The only thing that stopped him was the herd of horses running along side him. This brought him back to the words of Secretariat, who said to just keep on running, and seeing this sight inspired him to keep on living. This closing scene was incredibly powerful.
