3. Season Three

It really is a game of inches with the top seeds, and for this list it's BoJack's third outing that kicks off the podium positions. Season three was where the show really, truly found itself. Leaning into the more dramatic themes that had been building up over the first two seasons, it kept the same clever humour and social satire but added a much more substantial dose of drama and emotional conflict.

This season sees BoJack at perhaps his lowest low - and that's saying an awful lot. The reason it's so effective is because it starts off on such a high note, with BoJack making his movie and even finding himself in contention for an Oscar. But as his professional life improves, his personal life begins to crumble around him.

Season three features BoJack and Todd's heart-wrenching fall-out, the experimental "Fish Out of Water" and, to top it all off, the sudden and soul-crushing death of Sarah Lynn. It was the season that saw the show go from comedy-drama to tragicomedy, and of course the rest is history.

And who could ever forget that ending? Chills.
