Breaking Bad: 10 Times Walter White Made You Genuinely Root For Him
1. The Knowing Nod To Jesse
Some TV programmes end with a whimper, leaving masses of fans dissatisfied with the outcome and wondering what might have been (Game of Thrones, we're looking at you).
Breaking Bad, however, leaves little left to be concluded, and it's a fitting end to the series when we see Walt and Jesse share one last knowing glance at each other.
Walt essentially offers Jesse the chance to put him out of his misery and kill him there and then, but Jesse, knowing Walt is bleeding heavily from gunshot wounds, elects not to take that chance and walks away on his lonesome.
There's a brilliant shot within this entire scene of Walt and Jesse sharing one last look at each other, with Walt giving his younger partner a knowing nod as if to say he always had his back.
It's a brilliant end to the series and pulls together so many of the emotions we see throughout. It's a testament to the show and Walt in particular, that even in the dying embers of the entire thing, you still have that one last time to feel for him and get onside.
There's no doubt he saves Jesse. The big question is whether it's for the want of being a good human, or one final act of 'you need me' in the direction of his partner.
