Breaking Bad: 12 Best Cult Heroes

3. Mike Ehrmantraut

Breaking Bad's resident stoic badass, Mike is surely one of the most likeable villains ever to grace a television screen. Although a crucial part of Gustavo Fring's organisation, Jonathan Banks' character occasionally revealed a heart of gold. He cared for his granddaughter, acted as a paternal figure to Jesse, and never endangered innocent bystanders. Mike's popularity endured despite (or perhaps because of) his effectiveness as a professional henchman. He was the ultimate clean-up man, one capable of disposing of Gus' enemies with absolutely minimal fuss, and a real rarity in a world of gung-ho characters such as Hank and Tuco. Simply put, Mike was a badass, and arguably the coolest character on the entire show. His death was a microcosm of his own personality, both violent and peaceful; when an increasingly desperate Walt fatally wounds Mike, he simply sits cross-legged on a hillside and awaits his fate. Poignant.
