Breaking Bad: 5 Characters We Expect To Bite the Bullet And 5 We Really Hope Won’t

Who We Hope Won€™t

5. Gomez

I€™ll admit that I don€™t feel as strongly about this entry as the others to come. But Gomez is still a character that I hope sees the end of Walt€™s madness. Why you ask? Because I don€™t think Hank will. Gomez has been Hank€™s partner since the very first episode. He has been Hank€™s closest confidant and we€™ve seen them go through ups and downs in their friendship. For the most part, he€™s been comic relief. But, more importantly, he is a character who can soften the blow of Hank€™s probable demise. Gomez may not be the most memorable Breaking Bad character but he can serve an important purpose. He€™s the guy that will read a touching speech at Hank€™s funeral. It€™ll be bittersweet but Gomez could be the light-hearted grounding for what is likely to be an extremely bleak finale.

4. Marie

Like Gomez, Marie should survive because of Hank€™s probable death. Although for very different reasons. Over the past five seasons Marie has inadvertently become the sanest main character in the series. Strange considering we were introduced to her as a neurotic shoplifter. At this point in the series, Skyler has hit nervous-breakdown point, Hank has become obsessed with catching Heisenberg, Walt is a complete psycho, Saul is the same rat he€™s always been and Walt Jr. is a compulsive breakfast eater. Okay so Walt Jr. is sane as well but he hasn€™t been developed nearly as much as Marie. If this series is gonna go for a depressing ending (which it probably will), we need it to pull some punches. Marie is one of them. She's one of the few characters that still has a chance at coming out with a clean slate. Of course, if Marie does live, she€™ll likely be mourning her sister and husband. Hmmm, maybe she won€™t end up so sane after all...
