3. The Knife Scene
Skyler finally attempted to do what she should have done a long time ago. Instead of acting like nothing bothered her and drinking glass after glass of wine, she finally reacted to her husband's aggressive behaviour. After Walt demanded that both Flynn and Skyler pack their bags, they questioned why and left without an explanation. Obviously, Skyler shortly came to the conclusion that Hank had been killed. After this comeuppance, she looked like a woman possessed. Walking over to the knife rack with her usual coldhearted look, she warned Walt not to move. Heisenberg predictably continued to walk towards her, resulting in the gashing of Walt's hand before the two fought for dominance. Flynn shouted for the pair to stop, before taking matters into his own hands and forcing his Dad out of the brawl. This scene was powerful for several reasons. Firstly, it showed how far the family have come - Flynn in particular; from his oblivious early days to his recognition that his Dad is the monster his Mum warned that he was, and finally taking her side on the matter. Secondly, it showed that Walt does not have the omnipotence that he has desired since killing Gustavo as both his wife and son rebelled against his orders. Lastly, the conclusion of the scene saw Walt leave with his daughter Holly in his arms, with an overwhelmed Skyler screaming for him to return. So much for Walt trying to do what is best for the family.
