Breaking Bad: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

2. Season 4

Breaking Bad Walt Jesse
AMC

Once Gale was found dead in his apartment at the beginning of Season 4, you knew that Jesse and Walt were in for a world of sh*t coming their way from Gus. Since this was a mild mannered man who could turn into a cutthroat killer (literally) at the drop of a hat, it looked like two amateur drug dealers weren't going to stand a chance against him going forward. What we got instead was Heisenberg and Mr. Fring going on a chess match for the ages.

Though Jesse's journey with Mike made for some of the most in depth moments this season, the majority of this season is watching Walt and Gus go back and forth to see how they're going to save their own skin.

This is also one of the best seasons for the side characters, from Hank dealing with living at home without the use of his legs to some of the most adorable moments between Mike and his granddaughter. Say what you want to about the show's dramatic nature, but Saul's lines here are some of the funniest of Bob Odenkirk's entire career, especially when he makes mentions of Jesse and Walt being the future names of his anal polyps.

The best of of the season comes in the final string of episodes, from Walt laughing maniacally in his crawl space at the end of Crawl Space to him finally winning by blasting Gus' face half to hell in the middle of a nursing home. With no one left chasing them, there was a new villain in town, and his name was Heisenberg.
