Brexit: The Uncivil War Review - 4 Ups & 4 Downs

2. It Tells A Genuinely Interesting Story

At least someone is telling the story.

The Brexit story is one that has many, many elements that we don't know about. There are many elements that we will NEVER learn about, thanks to this wonderful idea that government should govern to the will of the people, but not to their knowledge. It's all very much "for the good of the people, whether they know it or not."

To that end, actually seeing the story of Cummings' involvement, when things like political strategy and lobbyism are left out of the usual election/referendum story because it's seen as somehow dishonourable in the "war" of party conflict is a refreshing change.

We don't get to see these dark arts much on TV (aside for things like The Thick Of It and that's obviously satirical) and it's an important thing we all ought to know about. Especially as the idea of someone as brilliant and apparently dangerous as Cummings masterminding something that so many people thought was the independent will of the people is the stuff of the highest drama, usually.
