Brooklyn Nine-Nine: 10 Best Episodes Ranked
9. Moo Moo
There are a few 99 episodes that attempt to tackle some of the more significant issues facing the world today. This is quite a big thing to try and do, but Brooklyn does it so well, as it strikes the perfect tone between seriousness and humour.
In this episode, Terry gets racially profiled by another officer while looking for his daughter’s toy. We are then shown how Terry is personally effected by, and then deals with, these events. This ultimately gives Terry a truly great moment as he tells the unapologetic officer that what he did, was “not the job”.
This episode also gives Holt a great arc as he believes Terry's plan to complain is the wrong move for his career. But following Terry's conviction, he eventually realises that as Captain, he is now able to influence change himself and should support Terry’s actions. This really solidifies their relationship and produces a great brotherly moment between the two men.
Finally, we have Jake and Amy, who, while babysitting Terry's daughters, think they've nailed parenting by simply stuffing the kids with cake to avoid awkward questions about what happened to their dad. But eventually they show real growth and realise this is an issue that needs to be talked about.
The episode may not be one of the funniest, but it certainly is one of the best for what it has to say and the way it says it.
