Brooklyn Nine-Nine: 10 Best Halloween Heist Moments

Way back in the first ever Halloween Heist, in just the sixth ever episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, things were very different. Jake propositioned Holt a simple bet that he could steal the Captain’s Medal of Valor, mainly from a bragging perspective, rather than the ludicrous event it became in later years.

As far as Holt knew, it was just him vs Jake, but Peralta had other ideas. Throughout the entire episode, it seemed that Jake was failing and getting outsmarted at every turn by his boss, but it was all just one big play that was wonderfully explained at the very end.

While ‘arrested’ in the interrogation room, Jake went through every step of his plan, and what was actually happening when Holt thought he was catching his best detective in the act. Instead, Peralta was purely a distraction while allowing Rosa, Amy, Terry, and Charles to assist in getting him the medal.

This was a classic trope of every TV and movie heist ever, but it was incredibly satisfying, particularly as Holt began their conversation questioning how good a detective, and how smart his opponent was, only to be proven so very wrong.
