Brooklyn Nine-Nine: 10 Most Hated Supporting Characters
6. Roger Peralta
From the very beginning of the series, one of Jake Peralta's most consistent character traits was his father issues. His dad was never there for him as a child and this greatly affected many of his relationships in his later life, including how he looked at Captain Holt as something of a father figure.
Roger Peralta walked out on Jake when he was just seven years old, leaving his wife after years of cheating with many different women. He fathered many illegitimate children while married to Karen, yet for some reason she found it in herself to look past it.
Jake, and the Brooklyn Nine-Nine audience as a whole, weren't quite so forgiving however. Jake tried to break his parents up when they got back together because of how little he trusted his dad, and no one could blame him, and while Roger himself liked to put his poor parenting down to something of a family curse, this was nothing more than a poor excuse.
He really was a terrible father, only coming back into Jake's life because he wanted his help, and when his own son threw a celebration party for him, he couldn't be bothered to turn up. He eventually played a slightly bigger role in Jake's life, though nowhere near what he actually should have as his father.
