Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Every Halloween Heist RANKED!

2. Halloween (Season 1 Episode 6)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Halloween Jake Peralta Captain Holt
NBC

Despite the increasing complexity and heightened stakes the Halloween Heists gained year or year, it's hard to beat the simple brilliance of the OG heist. It's a Season One highlight that cemented our love of these characters (particularly Jake and Holt) and still holds up as one of the best episodes of the entire show.

When Jake boasts to the squad that he'd make an excellent criminal and none of them could ever catch him, Captain Holt is determined to prove otherwise. He agrees to a challenge in which Peralta must steal Holt's Medal of Valor from his office without being seen, and he only has until midnight to do it. What follows is a series of side-splitting hijinks as Jake desperately tries to infiltrate Holt's office ("Are you in my ceiling, Peralta?" "...no?").

It's an eminently quotable episode with some fantastic visual gags (Jake rounding up pigeons being a personal highlight) and it makes great use of the Halloween theme. The payoff at the end is super satisfying as Jake brags about how he pulled off his victory, with help from every other member of the squad.

So what's stopping this creepy caper from taking the top spot? The surprise factor. Despite the neat resolution, it was pretty easy to guess that Jake was going to win since he was really the only competitor, so this classic doesn't quite reach the same level of twists and turns that certain other heists do.
