Despite being the quintessential man-child, Jake Peralta also happens to be one of the most talented detectives in the New York Police Department’s 99th Precinct.
Peralta is the lead character of the series and most episodes revolve around him and his class-clown behaviour while solving crimes in Brooklyn. His immature antics are the heartbeat of the show, but at his core he is a lovable character that cares deeply about his co-workers.
He has grown up throughout the seasons, largely thanks to his relationship with Amy who has helped him transition from boy to man.
However, he has still maintained his carefree nature and child-like excitement for his job and continues to harbour a desire to turn his life into a Die Hard movie.
No matter how much Jake matures in the series, you will always be able to rely on him for a cheap gag.
