Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One

5. Anya Jenkins

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Drusilla
WB

The third season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a strong contender for the show's best. There are so many standout episodes; 'Anne', 'The Zeppo', 'Doppelgangland', and 'Graduation Day' are all fantastic.

'The Wish' is another killer episode, and it's the first story to feature Anya Jenkins, a vengeance demon with a quirky personality. Anya has a knack for inappropriate dialogue, but her lines also add plenty of humour to the proceedings. She's especially entertaining when she's alongside Xander – their comedic personalities work really well together.

There's also a couple of stellar Anya-centred episodes. 'Entropy' and 'Selfless' are some of the best episodes in their respective seasons. The latter is particularly good, giving us an insight into Anya's life before she came to Sunnydale.

The only downside to Anya's character is her death. Given she was a key part of the gang since the middle of Season Three, she really deserved a better send-off than the one she got.
