Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One
4. Glory
Season Four is a mixed bag, and the most common criticism is the lacklustre Big Bad. There's just no getting away from the fact Adam looks like a leftover from an unaired episode of Power Rangers. The showrunners needed to redeem themselves in the next season, and – thankfully – they passed with flying colours.
Glory (also known as Glorificus) is a powerful goddess from a hell dimension. Whilst her powers are diminished by her human form, she's more than a match for Buffy. The Slayer is overpowered on numerous occasions throughout Season Five, and she only manages to defeat her rival with the help of Olaf's hammer.
But the main reason Glory works as a villain is her personality. She's a bit like Drusilla – but not quite as insane. She's childish, spoilt, and enjoys living like a queen. Whilst this doesn't make her a particularly sympathetic character, her arrogant personality has a strange charm that's hard not to enjoy.
The only part of her character that doesn’t really work is the fact she shares a body with Ben, the junior physician at Sunnydale Memorial. Still, this is a minor complaint. For the most part, Glory is a wicked villain who's deliciously entertaining.
