Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Funniest Episodes

8. Him (Season 7, Episode 6)

A sequel of sorts to season two's 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered' this early doors season seven episode was a welcomed returned to the spooky high-school shenanigans of the show's infancy, only this time it was a much more layered take on the formula.

Unlike Xander's ill-fated dalliance with the romantic dark arts, this episode is a slightly more personal take on the ideas of attraction. In which high-school quarterback R.J. finds himself to be the object of many women's desires - most dangerously Willow, Anya, Buffy and Dawn.

The episode certainly does veer into somewhat icky territory with Buffy's attempted seduction of R.J. being a particularly uncomfortable moment, but there's enough levity elsewhere to help balance it out. Such as Willow's bright idea to magically transform R.J. into a girl so they can live a happy queer lifestyle or Anya robbing several banks in a bid to win his heart with cold hard cash.

The real standout though has to be Buffy's plan to kill Principal Wood via rocket launcher which is both a brilliant bit of physical comedy and neat little throwback 'Innocence'. It does all culminate in an emotionally resonant finale between Buffy and Dawn that adds a lot of depth to this inherenrlty silly episode.
