Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Funniest Episodes

7. Life Serial (Season 6, Episode 5)

The show's sixth season is often lambasted by fans for being far too dark and depressing, and whilst it may be a particularly harrowing year for The Scooby Gang, there's also plenty of levity to be found in the first half.

Case and point, the often-overlooked 'Life Serial'.

Forced to confront the financial problems that had built up whilst she was dead, Buffy sets about acquiring a regular job, which as you'd imagine, is somewhat outside of a Slayer's usual wheelhouse. Things are made even harder for her as The Trio seek to tarnish her every step of the way and it's this collision of the mundane workaday life and the show's overt supernatural silliness that makes this one a comedy classic.

There are plenty of great scenes throughout, such as Buffy's super-strength turning some heads at her new construction job, or the subsequent reveal that demons use kittens as currency in poker games.

Above all else though, it's Buffy's brief stint working in retail that really steals the show. Trapped in a time-loop wherein she must satisfy a customer with a seemingly impossible demand, it's a truly relatable and beautifully constructed scene that never fails to raise a smile.
