Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Funniest Episodes
6. Storyteller (Season 7, Episode 16)
To say that Buffy's final season is divisive is quite the understatement. Fans are either fiercely defensive, or vehemently opposed to the show's closing chapter for several reasons, but more often than not, the main reason is due to its bigger emphasis on secondary characters instead of the beloved Scooby Gang.
Which explains why Storyteller is perhaps the most divisive episode of the show alongside the aforementioned Beer Bad.
The episode revolves around Andrew making a documentary film that chronicles the days leading up to the impending battle against The First, much to the chagrin of everyone else around him.
Andrew's narration and tangential nature allows for a lot of humour to shine through, and given that this episode comes at a point where the story is reaching peak levels of bleakness, it's quite the welcomed breath of fresh air.
It utilises several different types of humour, confidently delivering smatterings of meta-commentary, absurdism and plenty of cringe-inducing moments, which ensures there's at least something for every taste.
This is one episode that is certainly deserving of more praise than it gets, and thankfully it's reputation has improved over time. Give this one another go, you shan't regret it.
