Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Funniest Episodes

3. Something Blue (Season 4, Episode 9)

Something Blue is one of the great reminders that season four of Buffy, whilst woefully misguided in the main plot department, is worth sticking through if you're struggling on a first viewing.

The unofficial third chapter of the 'Wish Trilogy' following on from the spectacular 'what-if?' scenario 'The Wish' and the equally fun 'Doppelgangland' sees a frustrated Willow inadvertently lashing out her friends when a spell that was intended to help ease her broken heart goes awry.

Instead of helping Willow get over Oz, the spell instead makes her will be done, and after several disagreements with her friends, she ends up cursing them under her breath. Which leads to Giles becoming blind, Xander becoming a literal demon magnet and most hilarious of all, Buffy and Spike to believe they're getting hitched.

The Buffy and Spike dynamic alone is worth watching the episode for, but it's the antics of a blinded Giles that are the true stand-out moments. Comedy beats aside, Something Blue is something of an important episode in the canon as it further establishes Willow as a real magical force to be reckoned with, a plot-point that would fully blossom in two seasons time.
