Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Most Hated Episodes

8. I Robot, You Jane

In the season one episode, I Robot, You Jane, a demon tries to manipulate people through the internet so that it can rebuild a body and come back to life. It was actually a very clever concept for the time and was probably one of the first times we see the idea of exploring the dangers of online dating in mainstream pop culture.

While the episode's ideas are still relevant and tell a cautionary tale that still stands (to a degree) almost thirty years later, the technology and terminology used feels like ancient history. These days, while we still should take caution with meeting people online, it's generally a different landscape and it would be weird to not make friends online.

It makes for a very awkward rewatch, especially for those who are only just discovering Buffy for the first time. Aside from these little complaints, the plot is messy, and while the design of Moloch's robot suit is pretty cool, it felt jarring compared to the rest of the creatures we'd been introduced to in the series. Oh, and can we talk about the cringe dialogue and awful performances from the guest cast? Maybe not.

However, for those of us who were around to watch it when it came out, it's a lovely bit of nostalgia. Sadly, that doesn't make up for a lot.
