Buffy's debut season is almost entirely made up of monster-of-the-week adventures, and they range from biblically awful to trailblazing and brilliant. It's safe to say that Teacher's Pet sits firmly in the former category.
Concerned with a teacher who all the boys fall for before she's revealed to be a giant praying mantis, the episode wanders through a myriad of tacky sex jokes before assaulting audiences with shoddy practical effects and heavy-handed statements about hormonal teenagers.
Struggling to find a balance between its bonkers premise and the finale's attempts at monster horror, Teacher's Pet makes for a good laugh for all the wrong reasons, and serves as a perfect reminder of how uncertain Buffy often was in its infancy.
