Captain Jack Returns In Brand New Torchwood Audio Series
Spin off to resume after 4 year hiatus.
Torchwood is finally returning, almost 4 years after it last appeared on our screens! Big Finish has confirmed that they'll be continuing the spin off's legacy in the form of a brand new and original 6 part audio series which will explore the impact that a mysterious event has on the alien busting team. The first installment, The Conspiracy by David Llewellyn, is set to be released in September 2015 and will focus on the show's protagonist Captain Jack Harkness, portrayed as always by John Barrowman. Torchwood creator and former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has revealed that the show "is finally going home" which suggests that the new productions will return to Cardiff, the show's original setting, after its previous televisual escapade, Miracle Day, received mixed reviews when it moved the majority of the action over to the US. Torchwood producer James Goss commented:
"What's great about Torchwood is that it is as unstoppable as Captain Jack and just as persuasive. Torchwood has been a ratings success on nearly every BBC channel, and it's one of the few UK series to translate to America. It's already been a series of iPlayer-topping audio plays, and we are thrilled to continue it. Its just so exciting to be starting off the range with a drama starring John Barrowman he leapt at the chance to display a whole new side to Captain Jack."Further casting announcements will be revealed in due course.
