Casting Star Trek: Voyager Reboot

8. Harry Kim - Charles Melton

VOYAGER HARRY KIM JAMES MELTON
Paramount/The CW

Charles Melton is an American-Korean actor who has risen to prominence thanks to his role in Riverdale, where he plays Reggie Mantel. He took over the role from Ross Butler, when the latter had to leave the show due to his commitments to 13 Reasons Why. Since then, Melton has quickly established himself as one of the most intriguing actors on the show.

His star is just beginning to rise. He has starred in his first film (The Sun Is Also A Star). To play Harry Kim, he brings not only the confidence that he has displayed in his other roles, but also his youth.

Harry Kim, dubbed the forever Ensign due to his absolutely inability to get a promotion, is an essential member of the crew on Star Trek: Voyager. He is often the one to save the day, even if he never truly believes in himself. While the rest of the crew come to depend on him, he still finds himself the butt of many of their jokes.

Knowing now how popular the character was, it would make sense to give him more screentime this time around. Last time, the character was nearly written out at the end of the third season. Charles Melton, with his screen presence and popularity, is more likely to bring more and more (and younger!) fans to the show.
