Castlevania Final Season Review: 6 Ups And 3 Downs
7. Down: The Styria Plotline Is Largely Disconnected
Yes, Hector is directly involved in the conspiracy to bring Dracula back to life, but aside from his contributions, Syria is completely unrelated to anything else happening in Season Four. That is a real shame.
It's particularly disappointing due to how important this cast of characters have been to the show. Hector and Isaac were part of Dracula's court and Carmilla was a huge instigator in the fall of Dracula's empire. Since Season Three they have all had their own storylines with the addition of Carmilla's sisters Lenore, Striga and Morana.
Styria was a massive focus from then on and it has had some fascinating storylines that have unfolded with the expectation that they would circle back round to the main plot at some point towards the end.
Instead, Styria remained a self-contained side story that finishes around the midpoint of the final season. You could almost separate their scenes and that of Trevor, Sypha and Alucard and have two different shows.
This feels like a missed opportunity to bring all the characters together in some way or another and it is overall the most disappointing aspect of the season.
That being said...
