Castlevania Season 2: 5 Reasons To Be Excited
3. The Heroes
Castlevania features three distinct heroes and their development will surely be a highlight of the second season. Their alliance foretold in prophecy, the Sleeping Soldier, the Hunter and the Scholar are the last and best line of defense Wallachia has left.
As the main protagonist , Trevor Belmont was a hesitant hero. The last son of the House of Belmont, whose entire family was persecuted for dealings in Black Magic, Trevor was indifferent to the suffering of Wallachians at the hands of Dracula.
It isn't until befriending a tribe of Speakers, including our scholar of Magic Sypha Belnades, that he remembers his family's mission to protect their country. As more of an idealist, Sypha was a perfect counterpoint to Belmont's cynicism.
After a brief fall into the catacombs, Trevor and Belmont come into contact with Alucard, the Sleeping Soldier that was the figment of Wallachians as they held onto hope their country could be rescued. After a short spat, Alucard is revealed to be the son of Dracula and Lisa Tepes. As a character with Dracula's vampirism and Lisa's humanity, Alucard joined our other two heroes on their mission to end the genocide.
This alliance is packed with potential character moments and relationship dynamics. The connection between Trevor and Sypha, Belmont's skepticism toward his new vampire partner and Alucard's personal connection to our villain could all provide compelling arcs that move the story forward.
