Castlevania Season 2: 5 Reasons To Be Excited
2. More Dracula
Only in the first episode, the impact of Vlad Dracula Tepes was both profound and devastating. As the main antagonist of both the television and game series, Dracula summoned an army from the guts of Hell itself to wage war on the citizens of Wallachia, plunging the country into a state of death and despair.
Although carrying the name of the most iconic ghoul of all-time, Dracula's motivations still seem human. A character that turned his back on humanity, Dracula fell in love with Lisa from Lupu and chose to live peacefully among mankind. It wasn't until the public burning of Lisa, now his wife, due to false accusations of witchcraft that he reverted back to his hatred of man and swore vengeance on the land.
The key to great villains is hating and fearing their actions, but sympathizing with their reasons. Even at his most maniacal and blood-thirsty, we can't forget both his reformation to quietly live among people and the loss he has endured.
In the upcoming season, we will get to see more of Vlad Dracula, hopefully with a deeper look into his relationship with Alucard, history with Wallachia and further descent into madness.
