Castlevania Season 3: 11 Reasons You Should Watch

8. The Monster Designs

Castlevania Season 3
Netflix

The monsters in Castlevania have proven horrifying and awesome in equal measure, with some standouts including the creatures that attacked the Belmont Hold in season 2. However, the monsters in this new season are markedly more interesting and diverse than their predecessors (with rears lovingly rendered by Sam Deats himself).

The psychedelic mushroom headed creature was one such design, with its glow hearkening back to the blue alpha creature that ate the bishop's head in season one, but with its own confusing and frightening flare. Its role in the story turned out even more baffling and important than most.

The design of Isaac's enemies in episode 9 put some intriguing religious iconography into play, as well as bringing in an iconic Castlevania villain from the games and inserting it into the show to great and disturbing effect.

The most memorable of the monsters, however, are the angel-looking creatures Trevor and Sypha fight in the climax, which more resemble biblical angels with their many eyes, wings, and weapons, making for some fantastic fights in flight to awe audiences.

They're unsettling and beautiful and hellish all at once. Perfect for the world of Castlevania.
