Castlevania Season 3: 11 Reasons You Should Watch
7. Episode 9
Everyone talking about this season has a lot to say about episode 9. Without spoiling too much, this is the "climax episode" of season 3, similar to the penultimate episode of season 2 with the fantastic fight between Dracula and his diminished horde and the trio working seamlessly together.
In this, ehem, climax, the disparate stories of Trevor and Sypha, Alucard's relationship with Sumi and Taka, Isaac and his horde, as well as the budding.... friendship (?) of circumstance between Lenore and Hector all reach a fever pitch, their individual experiences intercutting almost seamlessly.
The animation in these scenes is on another level entirely, with game-inspired action shown on Isaac's side and some of the best and most jaw-dropping sequences in the entire series during Trevor and Sypha's battle against new species of demons.
Where the mood of season 2 was triumphant, but ending on some level of despair, season 3 does much the same - triumph edged with bitterness, with an added element of surprise and mystery.
It would have been remarkably disappointing if it had been the last season of the show, but as it stands, it simply promises so much more to come.
